My favourite crystals & how to incorporate them in your practice

There was a time in my life when I loved crystals. I had bowls of them everywhere, I would regularly walk into crystal shops and feel like a kid in a candy store. Then somewhere along the way… I fell off the wagon. Life got busy, other tools and practices took center stage, and my crystals became pretty objects gathering dust in a nightstand.

But recently, I had a client reminding me of them and I found myself reaching instinctively for a crystal again. No plan, no ritual. I just held it. Since then, I’ve slowly been reintegrating crystals into my daily flow—not in a performative way, not in a ‘perfect grid on Instagram’ kind of way, but simply as energetic companions. Below are some of my favorite stones, how I use them, and what they evoke for me.

1. Aventurine – for uplift and softness

Aventurine makes me feel like I’m standing in sunlight after a long grey day. There’s something so gentle and encouraging about it—it doesn't push, it invites. I like to put them on my desk when I feel weighed down by doubt or indecision. I also got myself a bracelet from Otter Spirit and like wearing it when I’m brainstorming or working on something creative. It oddly makes me feel more connected to my intuition. It’s known as a stone of prosperity and growth, but honestly, I just like how light I feel around it. I would recommend wearing or carrying Aventurine if you're wanting to feel connected to your intuition, and especially so if you're a Uranian personality or if you're going through a Uranus transit.

2. Obsidian – for grounding and protection

Obsidian is serious, and quietly powerful. When my nervous system is overloaded, or I feel like I’m carrying other people’s energy, I like to place obsidian at the 4 corners of my room, or if things are really serious, directly on my stomach. Unsure if this is an official practice, but it works for me. This is something I used to do a LOT during my Pluto square Moon transit and when it felt like my sanity was holding on by a thread. Also, obviously, if you're a Plutonian personality type, you would probably benefit from carrying Obsidian at all times!

3. Rose Quartz – for softness and nervous system regulation

I resisted Rose Quartz for a long time because it felt too cliché. But it turns out there’s a reason everyone talks about it—it works. When I’m spiraling, overthinking, or just in a harsh inner dialogue, I hold rose quartz in my palm or tuck it under my pillow. It helps me soften into myself again. It’s the crystal equivalent of someone rubbing your back while you cry. I also used to like taking a bath while tucking rose quartz at the 4 corners of the bath tub (yes, I'm a 4 corners girl)

4. Selenite – for clearing and energetic hygiene

Selenite feels like a breath of fresh air when things feel stagnant or heavy. I use it almost like a spiritual lint roller—I swipe it over my body after emotional days or interactions that feel sticky. It’s also my go-to for cleansing other crystals. It's good for cleansing after a day of indulging and doing body scans with it.

5. Labradorite – for intuition and psychic boundaries

Labradorite has this iridescent, mysterious vibe. I like wearing it when I’m doing intuitive work or readings; it feels like it helps me stay open without absorbing everything around me. It’s protective in a quiet, elegant way. I’ve also placed one next to my laptop recently, which somehow helps with focus and boundaries while working.

6. Citrine – for energy and abundance

Obviously Citrine is the "money money money" crystal. It's an old trick but sometimes there's no need to reinvent the wheel. Keep it in your wallet or at your place of work.

7. Clear Quartz – for amplification & intention-setting

The speakerphone of crystals, we use it to amplify whatever else is around. I use it when I’m setting intentions, manifesting, or pairing it with another crystal to amplify its effect.

8. Moon Stone – for feminine energy

There’s something deeply soothing and cyclical about Moonstone. To be honest I haven't used them much, but it does have a very dainty and soft energy to it. Mostly amazing for jewelry as it looks so pretty.

9. Carnelian – for courage and embodiment

Carnelian is bold. It has a fiery, sensual pulse to it that I love. I used to have a necklace of it I really liked and also placed it on my sacral chakra while journaling or during breathwork when I feel disconnected from my desires.

10. Tiger Eye – for strength

I love just looking at it. I typically put it on my desk or with my Tarot Cards, but I've also done visualization/meditation work with it. I put it last but it's actually one of my favs.

How I use crystals

  • Jewelry – Rings, pendants, bracelets. It’s my favorite way to keep them close, especially on days when I don’t have the mental space for ritual.

  • Four corners of a room – Placing protective stones like Obsidian, Black Tourmaline, or Smoky Quartz at the corners of your space can act like energetic security cameras.

  • Under my pillow – I put calming stones like Rose Quartz or Amethyst under my pillow (or inside my pillowcase) for sleep support.

  • Pockets & bras – When I need subtle support during the day, Aventurine or Carnelian ends up tucked into a pocket or bra. Yes, you sometimes forget and find them later in weird places.

  • Altars or Tarot spaces – I choose crystals that match the energy I’m working with, especially during readings or intention setting.

  • Meditation companions – Holding a crystal in each hand or placing one on your solar plexus, heart, or third eye can amplify focus and emotional processing.
